Operations Support

Drug Trading offers comprehensive Operations support to its members through the people, services and programs designed to keep members connected and independent pharmacies running optimally.

National Advisory Board

Elected independent pharmacy owners from across Canada represent Guardian and I.D.A. members on the Drug Trading National Advisory Board (NAB). The NAB regularly provides peer feedback and recommendations to Drug Trading management on a wide range of business disciplines and ensures that Drug Trading is in tune with members’ needs in every region. On a more formal level, the National Advisory Board meets four to five times each year at Drug Trading's head office in Toronto, Ontario for all-day strategy discussions.

In addition, NAB members chair nationwide Regional Meetings in the fall and Drug Trading management incorporates member feedback from the meetings into network strategies for the following year. The NAB is structured so that all regions are fairly represented and there is a balance of members from a mix of regions based on population. NAB members, including the Chair and Vice Chair, are elected through a nomination and voting process. The NAB and the open communications policy at Drug Trading ensure that members’ feedback and suggestions are heard and action is taken.

Retail Operations Managers (ROMs)
Retail Operations Managers offer operational and merchandising support including field support, merchandising layout, special venture funding, store design, construction and fixturing, and real estate and legal services. The ROMs are the vital link between Drug Trading and its member pharmacies from Newfoundland and Labrador to British Columbia.

  • Drug Trading’s ROMs offer small business marketing, customer service, merchandising, financial expertise, store design and loss prevention services.
  • Every ROM helps members employ the DT programs that will maximize the profitability of their unique independent pharmacy business.
  • ROMs provide field-level input on competitive activities and initiatives as well as advice on new DT program developments and Enterprise participation. They also address urgent store-level issues, linking with the appropriate DT head office contact for swift resolution.
